It is workout time!

Summer is ending, and I’ll get back into a predictable routine at home. All three kiddos will be in school since my youngest is starting kindergarten. I will have five mornings a week to myself, and I want to manage my time wisely.

My number two goal is to set a realistic workout routine and get my energy back. I know for a fact that working out makes me feel better both physically and emotionally. I speak from experience when four years ago I was diagnosed with post-partum depression. My GP recommended I go see a specialist and this doctor evaluated my depression. The specialist prescribed an anti-depressant, and he clearly said the following: “Taking a pill won’t change your life… completely. The medicine will help you regain your appetite and desire to get out of bed. But is that all that you want? I don’t think so. You need to change your lifestyle and workout five days a week.” “Five days a week???” I said. “Yes, five day’s a week, not one day more, not one day less.”

And that’s when I started to work out seriously for the first time in my life. The rest of the story deserves more time for me to go back to my old journals and read what I wrote during this challenging time in my life.  So what is the first step in my plan to starting working out? A cute workout outfit of course ;)

I’ve been “pining” gym clothes here are there, and now I’ve compiled a nice wishlist. Obviously I can’t purchase it all (I wish ;) but it is sure fun to put a few ideas together! Maybe a couple of these items could make my Christmas list. Do you work out on a consistent basis? Or would like to start working out? I’d love to hear from you.

    So smart of you to find way to help yourself in many ways by working out, getting good exercise. Smart to use time when all your kids are in school. I was told also to exercise to help with my depression. Mine is side effect of hypothyroidism. I was born with it. Have taken thyroid meds all my life and sometimes fall off good routine and it shows when I do. I have to take 40 mg.of Paxil a day. If I don’t I don’t want to be around me. I do need to get exercise as I got lazy last winter/spring/summer and have gained 15 lbs.Just went to doc yesterday and was scolded for letting myself get heavier. I am not happy being heavier and can’t wear many of my skinny clothes now, that upset me enuf.
    Will keep track of how you’re doing and your exercising might inspire me too. Just taking our dog for walk would be helpful, get off my butt, stay away from jujufish and other naughties. I love to eat cake, cookies, etc.
    Good luck on your exersizing endoever and hopefully will get me going and keep me going. Maybe when it cools off will start cleaning out our shed, lost 20 lbs doing that few years ago. Happy weekend.
