Three charming holiday vignettes – 1 DIY, 1 Idea and 1 free printable

Are you a creature of habits? If so, do you have a particular layout for all your holiday decorations? You know, the tree goes in the corner of the living room, the mantel has a few candles and a lovely wreath, etc. Or do you get out your holiday decorations and start placing them here and there?

So whether you like to keep your decorations the same or you enjoy venturing out with a new style, I’ve put together three ideas inspired by Pottery Barn to inspire your holiday decor. Please take a look at these three charming holiday vignettes. The best part? I put these together in under 30 minutes tops for each design.

Vignette # 01 DIY Watercolor Cardinal Bird

Three charming holiday vignettes

This vignette was inspired by Pottery Barn’s Winter Fauna pillows. First, I made a mask out of card stock paper in the shape of a cardinal bird. Then I used watercolors to fill the inside of my mask mixing red watercolor and water. I know I’m making it sound very easy! This technique is suitable for anyone who had used a brush before ;) Also, notice how I kept my vignette with a black and white color plus the red of the cardinal bird.  Keeping your layout with only one accent color will complement the rest of your holiday decor smoothly.

Vignette # 02 Washi Tape Candles Idea

Three charming holiday vignettes kraft&mint

Here is and idea I’ve tried in the past, white candles wrapped in washi tape. I chose a palette of white and golds, inspired by Pottery Barn’s Anza Dot pillow and Scenic Deer Cloche.

I didn’t have a cloche at home but found a vase reminiscent of a shape of a cloche. Then I put to use eight white candles from last year’s decorations and gave them a festive look with washi tape. The polar bears are from my daughter’s extensive critter collection. Inside the vase, I wanted to put add a light element like the snow inside Pottery Barn’s cloche, and I found a star’s trim garland that fit nicely inside my vase.

Finally, this design is as what I call an insta-diy. Download, print and frame, add a white star or any white element plus a vase with dry branches. You are done!

Finally, have you decorated for the holiday season yet? I’ve seen many posts on FB and Instagram with homes all ready to go for Christmas. I can’t make myself put decorations up until after Thanksgiving. But, this is what I love about crafting, I get to design various ideas prior to the holidays scratching the itch of going full-blown into holiday decor mode.

Have a wonderful rest of the week! Love you all.

Thank you Pottery Barn for sponsoring these ideas!

Thank you so much for sharing images for projects. Love all of them. The cardinal will be for my very best friend and candles/cloche will be for me (maybe). Have to round up white candles.
I have taken glass containers shaped like cloche, turned up side down, glued pretty crystal knobs on top and have a cloche. Have made two of them, they sure come in handy this time of year especially. Love to make vignettes inside them and make a group to display. Don’t have mantel but do have shutter shelf to take mantel place, have so much fun “dressing” shelf. Must tweak that shelf a few times before am happy with vignette.
No Christmas decorating yet, will most likely have hubs help me after my surgery on Dec. 7th. Will be pretty simple this year, made couple things for shelf or table and few items gotten at $tree. Just too much to get out decoration boxes and have to put stuff back after holidays. Having right shoulder replaced so won’t be able to do much of anything. Had so many projects wanted to make but time flew by since Nov. 1st. it seems. have had knees done 11/08 and 12/09 but this one has me pretty apprehensive. Keep telling myself will be so much better after without pain and being able to function as I like to. Am not person to sit around watching tv, am busy all the time with one thing or another.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful, happy Thanksgiving
