Hello! Nice to meet you.

Ursula author of kraft&mint blog modern crafts

Hello! Great to meet you! My name is Ursula, and I’m a wife, mom, and avid crafter. My love for crafting started early on in life; I remember Art was my favorite subject in school and dreamed of working for a fashion magazine one day.

I grew up in Lima, Peru the first half of my life. After high school, I pursued a degree in Advertising and design, and when I completed my studies, I moved to the United States to continue a career in graphic design. Fast forward two years and I met a graphic designer who would become the awesome hubs.

So I believe if you are reading this, you like my work and would like to know a bit more about me ;) Here it goes:

Why do I blog about crafting? There is joy in making and that is one of the main reasons I blog.  I’m a stay at home mom of three beautiful and active kids. Blogging fits well into my busy schedule while crafting is my way to decompress and find joy.

Reasons I wake up in the am: This list could go on and on, I’m very thankful for my husband, my family, Jesus, friends and the sunshine (whenever it makes an appearance in the Pacific Northwest.)

What is my typical day like? I am a wife and mom to three super active kids ages 12, 9 and 7. Life is busy and constantly changing. During the week I take my kids to school, volunteer 1 day a week at their school and run my home. Crafting is my therapy! I’m constantly coming up with ideas for DIY’s to enjoy a creative and fullfilling life!

Why do I blog about quick crafts? Did I mention I have three super happy and active children? This is the main reason why I blog about quick and lovely DIYs. I’m in a season of life when I can’t do it all. Life is full of laughs, tantrums, home-work, sports, emotional roller coasters and I have to be very intentional with my time and how I spend it. In my humble opinion, quality over quantity is always good.

But wait, I also see that you blog about fashion, how come? If I could add more hours to my day, I would start a whole other blog dedication to fashion, trends, shopping on a budget, where to buy “investment” pieces, etc. For now, kraft&mint is my outlet to share with my readers my passion for clothing styles and dresses.

Fave Foods: Coffee + cream and sugar and two pieces of toast with butter and jelly. Two fried eggs with white jasmine rice. Pad thai and yellow curry. Peruvian ceviche.

Shop at: I love quaint independent shops, but keeping it real, Target is my downfall, along with Ulta and sometimes Homegoods. Online, I’m a huge fan of Modcloth and love wearing dresses. But, in a whole other level of shopping, any stationery, craft supplies store makes my heart beat faster.

Giddy about: The lovely magazine “Artful Blogging” featured my work in their spring issue. Any time my kids are kind to each other. My husband gave me an amazing christmas gift: I get to go to a crafting retreat in the spring called “The Makerie.”

Dream about: My kids growing up to be loving and kind people. I also dream about their weddings! My own crafting studio next to a coffee shop.

Enough of me! What about you? Would you be so kind to leave me a comment? Thank you again for reading my blog and I hope you get to enjoy kraft&mint, DIY’s and living a creative life as much as I do!

Hi Ursula…your blog is so fresh and lovely to read and your life sounds a little like mine (except on the other side of the world) – 3 kids; 10, 8 and 5; I work 4 mornings in a school and see the sun very little here in Ireland. In amongst that, trying to blog and craft here and there. Love reading along…so inspiring!
