Mother’s day is around the corner! I’m looking forward to my daughter’s tea party thrown by her preschool this week. I’m not sure what’s planned for mother’s day, but if it were up to me, it would go down like this:
“Mommieeee! Happy mother’s day! We have breakfast in bed for you!” The kids would say, and then we would spend time as a family in the morning and take it easy.
In the afternoon, my lovely husband would have called a dear friend and arranged for her and me to go have a girlie afternoon together! And let’s not forget a little gift-card to my favorite craft store. Aaaaaah, maybe the hubs will read this post and make it happen ;)
If you haven’t bought a gift for your mom yet, then this little DIY gift card holder is perfect for you. It takes 30 minutes tops to make! Then the only thing left to do is to choose a gift card to your mom’s favorite store. Don’t forget to make arrangements to carve time for you mom to go and use her new gift.
You will need a soft pink leather rectangle sized to 7 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. I purchased mine at my local Ben Franklins craft store, at their beads department. I searched for “leather pieces for crafting” on Amazon and found this hot pink leather hyde that would totally work to make your gift card holder.
Second, fold the leather rectangle in half like shown in the picture above.
Glue both vertical sides of the folded rectangle. I always use “Fabric Fusion” glue for fabric, it works great.
The glue dries pretty fast in 30 minutes. Then you will punch two small holes to secure a little white bow bead shown below.
Notice the bead I used has two connectors, one on each side. You will secure the bead to the gift card holder with 0.5 mm natural leather cord and tie a knot inside the gift card holder. You just made a pretty gift card holder, and mom can reuse it to store little trinkets in her purse.
Enjoy crafting and don’t forget to ask Mom where does she like to shop for clothes, or crafts or anything you can think of.
