Are you a creature of habits? If so, do you have a particular layout for all your holiday decorations? You know, the tree goes in the corner of the living room, the mantel has a few candles and a lovely wreath, etc. Or do you get out your holiday decorations and start placing them here and there?
So whether you like to keep your decorations the same or you enjoy venturing out with a new style, I’ve put together three ideas inspired by Pottery Barn to inspire your holiday decor. Please take a look at these three charming holiday vignettes. The best part? I put these together in under 30 minutes tops for each design.
Vignette # 01 DIY Watercolor Cardinal Bird
This vignette was inspired by Pottery Barn’s Winter Fauna pillows. First, I made a mask out of card stock paper in the shape of a cardinal bird. Then I used watercolors to fill the inside of my mask mixing red watercolor and water. I know I’m making it sound very easy! This technique is suitable for anyone who had used a brush before ;) Also, notice how I kept my vignette with a black and white color plus the red of the cardinal bird. Keeping your layout with only one accent color will complement the rest of your holiday decor smoothly.
Vignette # 02 Washi Tape Candles Idea
I didn’t have a cloche at home but found a vase reminiscent of a shape of a cloche. Then I put to use eight white candles from last year’s decorations and gave them a festive look with washi tape. The polar bears are from my daughter’s extensive critter collection. Inside the vase, I wanted to put add a light element like the snow inside Pottery Barn’s cloche, and I found a star’s trim garland that fit nicely inside my vase.
Vignette # 03 Holiday Printable
Finally, this design is as what I call an insta-diy. Download, print and frame, add a white star or any white element plus a vase with dry branches. You are done!

Finally, have you decorated for the holiday season yet? I’ve seen many posts on FB and Instagram with homes all ready to go for Christmas. I can’t make myself put decorations up until after Thanksgiving. But, this is what I love about crafting, I get to design various ideas prior to the holidays scratching the itch of going full-blown into holiday decor mode.
Have a wonderful rest of the week! Love you all.
Thank you Pottery Barn for sponsoring these ideas!
