Darby Smart Polish Challenge. I made a party kit with 3 nail polishes, jewelry pieces and my own crafting materials.
Do you know Darby Smart? She is the mastermind behind darbysmart.com , a company dedicated to creating beautiful DIY crafts kits that you can make at home. A week ago I received an email from Darby Smart with a beautiful picture of one of her diy kits titled “Design Challenge. Polish No Limits.” This design challenge consisted of using a Darby Smart Polish Kit, containing 2 nail polishes and some mysterious craft supplies. I was ALL over it! I love creating something from scratch and just let my imagination go! What happened next is I received a beautiful teal box with three gorgeous nail polishes by “Julep” and a few jewelry materials to get me started.
The challenge emphasized the message of letting your creativity go and it was encouraged to use other crafting materials of your choice. Please take a look below at the party kit I put together along with one hair accessory.
Party Kit, Materials and Tutorial
Coasters Set

I used a “slate grey” acrylic paint for the outside of the box. Then I used all 3 nail polishes to “color block” 6 coasters.
Confetti
1: I had a Kraft paper cardstock, pretty sturdy to withstand all three nail polishes
2: I painted the entire sheet with Julep’s nail polishes, let it dry for 1 hour and then used a 1″ circle punch. I also used a 2″ circle punch for the cake toppers you’ll see below.
Cake toppers

One of the “mysterious” materials sent in the kit was a beautiful pice of jewelry shown above. I used a very thin leather cord to attach the piece of jewelry to a scalloped cut out for the cake topper.

Once I had both scalloped cut outs and my jewelry, I glued it to the 2″ circle punched cardstock from the same sheet I used for the confetti.
I had to make some “clouds” party picks! You could use these for hor d’oeuvre appetizers, cupcakes or tiny food name tags.
Party banner

This was so much fun to make. I colorblocked each pennant with Julep’s nail polish and then spelled the word “party”. I used a natural leather cord to hold the pennant together.
Sparkly headband

I had one last jewelry piece and I thought a headband would be a really nice item to include in the party kit as an additional goodie. I used a sparkly fold over elastic and fabric scissors.
