Hello December! How are you doing with this year’s holiday season? Are you a little stressed out? When I’m stressed out I try to stop what I’m doing and think, “Do I really need to do A, B, C, D, E projects and commitments all at once?” Then, I try to eliminate unnecessary deadlines I’ve imposed to myself and focus on what needs to get done. Once my to-do list is done for the day I love to relax while I craft. Crafting is my way to unwind and focus on what I love doing the most: designing crafts! Today I have a “quick craft” for you called “Felt and Silver” ornaments. I made these in under 90 minutes and I’m really happy with the results! Please take a look at my tutorial below.
You will need the following:
- Flat floral wire
- Very thin silver floral wire
- Pliers
- A few felt balls (I bought mine on Amazon).
Tutorial
- 1. Begin wrapping the thin floral wire around a felt ball.
- 2. Follow the same procedure with the rest of the felt balls and put them aside.
- 3. Cut 12″ inches of flat floral wire and start shaping one end like a circle and the other end like a hook. Please look at the photos below.
- 5. The flat wire should look like figure #5
- 6. The circular shape should “hug” your felt ball tightly but not too tightly that the ball starts losing it’s shape
- 7. Decorate a small tree with your new ornaments
What do you think? The tree above is my oldest son’s Christmas tree and is made out of very fluffy cotton. Very kid friendly but now that I’ve borrowed it, I don’t want to give it back ;)

I already gave the tree back to my son and now I’m thinking I need to make one for myself! I didn’t make the one featured on my post but I bought three trees like the the one I used for my post, when my first son was only 2 years old. I was thinking I could use at least another tree if we had another baby but I never thought I would use them all for 3 children! I have another son and a daughter ;) I found these trees and a small boutique in Seattle where I live but I haven’t seen them again :(
That is sweet, that they all have one tree… my daughter has a little tree in her room during the holiday season too. This cotton tree is so cute… I wonder what it would take to DIY, that could be a fun project!

I got off on a blog post you had done and now have to remember where I started after i visit post abut the big star you made. Been looking for very simple quick projects for our holiday decorating. Not going to get out our old decorations, just more than I can handle this holiday season. Hubs will have to do all decorating as I will be having right shoulder replaced on Dec. 7th. As you can imagine that puts anything I’m doing at a halt for some time.
Think this one will be harder than when I had my knees replaced, with left knee came home from hospital one week before Christmas. But at least could use my arms and get around on my own pretty well. Am trying to figure out how I’ll get up from couch to start off with shoulder replacement..
Have been busy making paper ornaments both for our decorating and for gifts. Having a joint replaced isn’t cheap believe me. Just one of knees was over $60,000. OUCH! lol Boy am I getting good value out of my Medicare.
Visited Michaels tonight, oh boy keep me out of that place, dangerous.
