Make Pretty Pouches to Store Your Treasures | Part 2

DIY Leather Pouches Designs - krat&mint

Hello! I  have the second part of the leather pouches tutorial ready for you! I’ve been using them to store my business cards, iPhone and headphone cables.

It does feel good to be more organized and the best part, I’m not wasting time over and over again trying to find these items in the black hole of my purse.

Tutorial: How to make leather pouches

You will need one piece of soft pink leather sized to 10 by 6 inches rectangle. I found my beautiful leather rectangles at my local Ben Franklins craft store.

  1. Begin with one rectangle and fold it in half.
  2. Apply “fabric fusion” glue to each side of your folder rectangle and let it dry for at least 1 hour.
  3. Once the glue is dry, make five small holes on the top part of the pouch. I used Martha Stewart’s ‘screw punch.” I love this tool!
  4. Choose a leather or suede cord of your choice and put it on each side of the top perforated leather.
  5. Voila, you are almost done with your new leather pouch.
  6. Tie a knot at the end of one side of the pouch.
  7. I made a second version of the pouch using the same technique I mentioned above. This time I use the white leather cord to put through the holes and tied a knot on one side of the pouch.
  8. Finally, I put silver “cloud” beads through the other side of the pouch, and I was done.
  9. I think they turned out adorable ;)

Materials Recap

I try my best to point you exactly to the materials I used. However, sometimes I find my supplies at a local craft store and I don’t have a link to give you. Please take a look at a list of suggested materials to make your own leather pouches.

  • Leather hyde (you could make quite a few pouches with this nice hyde.)
  • White leather cord (same cord I used on my pouches)
  • Ultra Micro Fiber Suede
  • Faux suede leather cord (same one I used.)
  • Fabric Fusion (same material I used.)
  • Martha Stewart Screw Punch (This little tool is very versatile and I used it on this project.)
  • Crown charms (these look adorable for the pouch with cloud charms)
  • Star Charms

I could browse crafting materials for-ever! Happy crafting!
