A couple of days ago I told you all about “The Makerie,” a creative retreat in Philadelphia. At “The Makerie, I took a watercolors and lettering workshop and an introduction to color and stencil with Lotta Jansdotter. Dream come true! The last day of this creative retreat was split in two, a morning workshop, lunch and then an afternoon workshop.
During the watercolor class, they taught us a few techniques, how to blend colors and how to create a “ombre” effect. Using a stencil I made out of card stock paper I made my “lips” artwork. Take a peek below to see a brief tutorial for my “Lips Watercolor Artwork & Lips Canvas Bag DIY.
Let’s see how I made my “Lips” Artwork
Stencil class with Lotta Jandsdotter
Lovely Lotta Jansdotter taught the basics of stencil on canvas. Our supplies included a round foam brush, a few pieces of canvas squares and fabric paint.

The next project I’d like to try is stencil on pillow covers. I think “Lips” pillows would be darling for my daughter’s room. Have you stenciled with fabric paint before? You know I love hearing from you!
Suggested Materials
Fabric paint (Pebeo, the paint we used at the workshop.)
Happy crafting!
This looks really good I especially like the watercolor in the frame. I think I’ll give it a go.
Hello Claire, I think you should. It is such a neat rewarding craft ;)
Love the watercolor! So good, Ursula!
Thank you Alexis ;)
This is such a cute watercolor painting! Looks super easy and great for a canvas wall. Definitely going to try it out!
SO excited you will try my lips watercolor craft! It is very easy to make (I’ve hardly used watercolors when I made it) and the stencil for the lips make it very doable :) XO Ursula :)O
