Happy Monday! Ok, I just didn’t say that… Can Mondays be happy? Is all in the attitude we have right? As I write this, I’m in a bustling Tully’s coffee shop, listening to my workout playlist in a pretty good mood. I can’t help it but smile when I see my new “lips” necklace!
About a month ago I worked on a campaign for HP to promote a super talented artist on tour around the USA. I was inspired by one of her songs and you can view the video for her song here.
Materials
- Fuchsia leather (a small piece will do.)
- Chunky silver chain
- One 9mm jump ring
- One lobster clasp
- One silver eyepin (not shown.)
- Fabric fusion glue
I cut my lips’ shapes out of fuchsia leather at my local Ben Franklin’s die cut center. If you don’t have a Ben Franklin store nearby, you can trace the template I’ll make for you and then cut the leather with scissors.
You will need two “lips” shapes. First, place one eyepin in the middle of one of the lips’ shapes. Then add a generous amount of fabric fusion glue (I used a brush for this step) and then glue the second lips’ shape, so you will “sandwich” the eyepin between both shapes.
This photo shows both lips shapes with the eye pin “sandwiched” in between both leather lips.
Attach a lobster clasp to the eye pin with a 9mm silver jumpring.
I made two versions of my lips pendant, one big one, and another smaller one. I used the bigger lips with a chunky silver chain, shown below.
Here is another version of my necklace using a “dainty” silver chain.
Give it a try! This necklace will make a cool statement with any outfit.
Happy crafting!
PS: I’ll upload a lips template for both big and small shapes in the middle of this week.
