Hello! It has been awhile since I worked with rubber-stamps, so I’m double excited to show you my latest project!
I made my custom “closed eye” rubber-stamp at a workshop last April. The teacher was Christine Schmidt, principal at Yellow Owl Workshop, a stationery shop that specializes in rubber-stamps with the most creative designs. They also have an amazing rubber-stamp carving kit I can’t wait to purchase.
I won’t go into the nitty-gritty of carving the rubber, but the concept is fairly simple once you have the tools necessary to make your stamps.
DIY Woodblocks with Custom Rubber-stamps Tutorial
- First, you will carve your design out of rubber with a special carving tool.
- Choose a pigment ink and dab the ink on to the rubber-stamp.
- Picture # 3 shows you how I dabbed the ink onto my stamp.
- Press firmly on the rubber-stamp so you get a crisp image.
