My daughter is turning six years old in less than two weeks, and she requested a woodland party! She always pretends to be a squirrel or a fox and is beyond excited to have her friends over and celebrate. Take a peek at how I made these cake toppers.

Cake Toppers DIY Tutorial

First, I purchased a clipart set from The Ink Nest called “Mystic Forest.” In Photoshop, I put together an 8.5 x 11 layout with a fox, one deer, a hare and one owl.
I printed my design and added a few strokes of green watercolors to each animal. Once the watercolors were dry, I cut around each critter with a pair of scissors.

Finally, I chose a couple of fabrics from my stash of scraps. I found a felt scrap in teal and a few pieces of burlap. First I cut a shape from the teal felt to fit one animal. I chose brown and white paper straws and “sandwiched” with glue, one paper straw between a piece of burlap and felt.

Two weeks from now, I’ll post photos of the cake, and details involved in this woodland party. Ahhhhh, can’t wait to celebrate my little girl and make a couple of more crafts for her big day.
