DIY Yummy Hair Clips

I have a daughter who is crazy about sweets, desserts and cakes. She is my little partner in crime when we go to a bakery or the delicious dessert section at Whole Foods. The reason I embrace her sweets addiction is because, I am the same… Now the sad part is that I can count the times we’ve gone to a bakery or freely had dessert with my family.

My two older boys have nut allergies, and we have to avoid desserts when we go out to dinner. Going to a cupcake shop is out of the question, and we have to stick to eating dessert at home. The good news, my daughter, has zero allergies! Yay! When we go out on a mommy-daughter outing, we visit Trophy Cupcakes or a bakery in Bellevue that is heaven for both of us.

My daughter and I are due for a little dessert outing, and once the boys are in school, her and I will escape for lunch and enjoy a sweet treat. Hence, the yummy hair clips!

Let me show how easy these hair clips are to make.

Materials:

I found the “miniatures” desserts at my local Michaels craft store.

Starting clockwise, I used a clip with a flat surface and two different miniature figurines. First I added glue to the top part of the hair clip, and then I set a miniature cake on top of it. I waited for one hour for the glue to dry, and once all the hair clips were dry, I chose two colors of nail polish. Finally, I painted the top of each hair clip with one coat of nail polish. That’s it!

Aren’t these adorable? I want to eat them all. Well, my daughter was not in the mood to take her picture to model her new hair clips. Maybe this weekend she would like to play “photo shoot” as I call it when she models for me.

Hope you are having a great weekend! Drop me a line and let me know what you think of this craft.

Love

Ursula
