Thank you Proflowers for the gorgeous flowers!
Do you get a little bit of a high when you are working on a new fun project? I do, and I’m super excited to share with you how to make this pumpkin vase made out of leather. Please pronounce with me “vase” and not “Voz.”
Side note, I saw on Instagram a funny quote about people that pronounce the word “vase” like “Voz” and it made me laugh pretty good.
So back to my leather pumpkin vase, it is very doable to build, as all of my crafts. I ventured out to make this work with a few materials, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
Materials you will need:

- Flowers (My lovely flowers are from ProFlowers)
- Hot knife
- Faux pumpkin (I found mine at my local Michael’s store)
- Liquid stitch glue
- Soft white leather
- My vase is from Ikea
- Fresh flowers of your choice.
Make a leather pumpkin vase this Fall tutorial
Begin with a faux 9 inches tall size pumpkin.
Use this magical tool: a hot knife.
Attach the blade and then plug in the knife. Let it warm up for 5 minutes. Be very careful not to touch the blade, it is very hot.
Start cutting the top of the pumpkin, slowly.
Set the knife aside, unplug and wait for it to cool off.
Use a very soft thin white leather and cut strips of leather that are 11 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide.
You will “eye” the strips of leather to the “divisions” of the pumpkin and glue them. Use a glue for fabric called “liquid” stitch.
Fold the leather on top of the pumpkin and then inside the pumpkin. Repeat this step for every “division.”
Remember the pumpkin will look more natural when the strips follow the curves of each division, but without being “perfect.”
The glass milk bottles will be part of a future craft I’m getting ready for you.
Place a vase that has preferably a wide, rectangular bottom so the vase is as stable as possible inside the pumpkin. Fill 3/4 of the vase with water and add fresh flowers of your choice.
Ideas for how to style your new leather pumpkin vase
This would make a nice table centerpiece for Thanksgiving dinner. The lovely sunflowers and foliage are from ProFlowers.
Or a Halloween accent for your home. I stay away from dark, scary Halloween decor.
A garland around the pumpkin would be perfect for a birthday party.
This wood garland is my fave!
