Photo Essay #7 kraft&mint thoughts and tips

photoessay_07_01kraft&mint

Seven days ago my kids started school and my schedule changed 180 degrees to say the least. Plus we have a holiday weekend and add that to the mix and my perspective on days is a bit off. What I mean is that a whole week, seems like two weeks and all the emotions around these changes have hit me hard.

Do you have a hard time remembering what you did a few days ago? If it wasn’t for all the photos I take with my phone, I would forget about the “little details” that make life meaningful.

I wrote the above paragraphs thirty days ago and now I’m finalizing this post! I don’t want to exaggerate about how busy my life is, we are ALL busy. Well, enough of excuses, I’ve put together a few photos from the fall season, interesting finds and tips.

purpleflowers

I went on a field trip to Remlinger Farms and while walking past the pumpkins I spotted these beautiful flowers. Aren’t they gorgeous? The color is out of this world.

blueapron

This month we gave Blue Apron a try and let me tell you, it was a dream come true. We ordered two meals, one was the beef stew above with a squash mashed potato side. The second meal was a calzone also with butternut squash and a few vegetables. It would be awesome if we could do this on a regular basis, but it can get pretty pricey.

Finally, I finished reading the “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and boy, I’m on a purging spree. You probably have seen this book at Costco, Barnes&Noble or on TV. The premise is to only have in your home things that give you joy. All other stuff? Toss it, give it away, sell it. It has taken some time to go through all my clothes, books, knickknacks but the results are pretty awesome! I’ve put a lot of clothes that I love but really don’t need for sale on Threadflip, downsized my cardigan collection to two favorites, this one and this one, quit the gym and now I’m doing a 15-minute workout and I’m seeing results!

In the process of doing this “material cleanse” as I call it, I decided not to send any Christmas cards this year. Why? Because I’ve been stressing about it too much, thinking when to get the family ready for a photo shoot, ordering the cards, then address them all. I’ve done this faithfully for the last ten years and this year I’ve decided to take a break from this task and simplify my holiday season. Gasp. My husband is a little concerned about why I’m not doing any Christmas cards since I love doing them so much. But that’s the thing, this year for some reason, putting together Christmas cards is not giving me any joy. Therefore, I’ll invest my time in decorating the house (prior to getting rid of more holiday decorations that don’t give me joy) and simplify my life.

Aaahh, it feels good to write about this and sharing with you what I’ve been up to lately. Thank you for stopping by and following kraft&mint ;) I love you all!

Happy Halloween!

Sure enjoy your wonderful blog and on your material purge, CONGRATULATIONS. More of us need to do this, Our daughter is always after me to get rid of “so many things”. She says she’s not going thru all my “stuff” when I croak. Her word for my demise, lol.
She also calls her Dad and I “two old farts”. No that doesn’t offend us. She is so sweet about it and so sweet to us. Seems like she appreciates us and realizes we’re getting older.
That’s life huh? lol. Keep up your good work, hope some of it rubs off on me.
Because we have a small house and no garage or basement I’m going to rent a storage garage to put as much of my “stuff” in it as I can. See if I can live without all the “stuff” and if so, then get rid of it after certain time period. Not as good as you are doing but I am trying. Have great weekend and upcoming week.
    Happy daze

Hi Jane Ellen! You are seriously so funny! I hear about all the “stuff.” I still have so much sentimental items I don’t want to get rid off, but I never look at them or use them… Thank you for visiting! I hope you have a great week!
