DIY Blush Pink Pencil Box
My love for stationery goes back to my elementary years when my mom and I would go back to school shopping for hours on end. So when I saw an unfinished wood pencil box at my local craft store, I had to buy it and plan for a quick and fun afternoon DIY.
DIY Blush Pink Pencil Box Materials
Let me show me you how I created the “ombre” effect for my blush pink pencil box.
DIY Blush Pink Pencil Box Tutorial

- First, cover the surface of where you plan to spray paint.
- Then, start spraying the pencil box lid with one “layer” of paint.
- Continue spray painting the pencil box. I counted seven layers of spray paint. Starting from the top of the pencil box and working you way down to the bottom. To create the “ombre” effect, you will spray five more layers of paint and the top, slowly releasing the paint until the bottom of the box remains almost untouched by the paint.
- Once the paint is dry, tip the box like shown in picture #4. Apply seven layers of paint and let it dry for ten to fifteen minutes. The “other” side of the box will have zero paint. This way the ombre effect will be complete from one side to the other side of the pencil box.
I’m hunting for more wood materials to spray paint with this dreamy blush paint ;) Can’t wait to share my next quick and easy DIY with you before this week is over.
Love,
Ursula
Love that soft pink, looks pretty using ombre technique. I should keep my pencils in pencil box, maybe they wouldn’t have broken leads so often, lol.
Enjoy rest of week. Hope not cold and raining as it is here in western CO.Our high was 47 degrees today. A person doesn’t know how to dress from one day to another. Good thing I hung laundry out yesterday.
Hi JaneEllen! My pencils always have broken leads too! Ha ;) Amazingly we hit 70’s degrees this weekend! It is lovely, we hadn’t seen the sun in so long! Cheers, Ursula
