Helloooooo, it has been a few days until I was able to share my shadow box with you! The “remodeling” at home has me running around moving furniture and everything else I own. Last week, looking for a way to wind down, I put together my new DIY shadow box with gourds. Take a peek below ;)
DIY Shadow Box with Gourds Tutorial
I found the unfinished wood shadow boxes at my local “Ben Franklins Crafts” in Redmond WA. Then, I had a few gourds left over from my previous DIY Modern Pumpkin display; These were the perfect size to fit through the hole in the shadow box.
Step 1: Gather a few gourds and paint them with a mint acrylic paint. The gourds were initially bright orange, so apply at least two coats of paint to the gourds.
Step 2: Paint the outside of the shadow box with pink acrylic paint (again two coats.)
Step 3: Paint the “frame” of the shadow box with mint paint.
Step 4: Insert the gourds through the hole at the bottom of the shadow box.
Step 5: Glue the “door” of the hole, so the gourds don’t fall out :0)
What do you think? I’m loving the “mod” vibe of my shadow boxes with gourds!
Happy crafting,
Ursula
