My kids have inspired me in so many ways. When I was a kid and the only child, my mom would throw big, fun parties. Now that I am a mom, I love coming up with a theme for their parties and design the party supplies. It is so much fun!
5 Tips for a gorgeous DIY party
- Decorate a neutral color wreath with small objects or cut outs that complement your party’s theme.
- Use tissue paper and add a pop of color to your table.
- Serve and decorate with cupcakes. Add bakers twine around the cupcakes.
- Party banner, cake and food.
- Custom personalized party favor bags.
- Angry bird cupcake toppers
- Goodie bags with Angry Birds rubberstamp.
- In flight snacks and berry boxes with extra goodies. I’ve used these berry boxes so much! They are so practical and you can find them at “Garnish”
- Dessert/food table and “in-flight” snack box for the kids.
- The Museum of aviation sells a million of rubber stamps representing a myriad of airplanes. Brennan chose the blue angels and an old bomber fighter plane.
- I used Wilton Tip # 1 and natural food coloring from Whole Foods.
- The hanging decor is from “Heart to heart” shop.
- I bought this garland from “Seasonal Delights” shop on Etsy. She does amazing work.
- Food table.
- These were a hit. The berry boxes are from “Garnish”. I made a sticker/label and I was done! I love quick and simple.
- This was the party favor. I used this sample from so and so and then added the hostesses names and various guests. Inside the favor bag I had a bookmark and bookplates.
- The cupcake toppers had quotes from classic children books. I used an alphabet stamp set for these.
Wow putting washi tape on birthday candles is brilliant! Never would have thought of that. I always hate the colours of birthday candles that you buy from the store but I never considered changing them.
Hello Mellissa, wonderful that you will try to add washi tape to birthday candles :) One tip that I mention on my post is to leave space between the wick and washi tape, about 1/2 inch at least. That way when you light the candles, the washi tape won’t burn ;) Cheers,
Ursula
Just curious, i know you said to leave room so the tape wont burn, but is it okay if it does ? I wouldnt mind it burning as long as it wasnt dangerous, or had like a horrible smell or anything.
Hello! Thanks for stopping by ;) Regarding the tape, I just don’t let the tape burn just in case the tape won’t burn nicely and ruin the candles or cake ;) If you plan of decorating a candle to burn for a while then I would decorate the candle holder with washi tape. Also votives look very cute with washi tape around them.
Okay! Good idea, thank you! :)
